Accounts and connection
Connect to TopstepX, select the intended account, and check connection and market-data health.
TurtleSoupX connects to TopstepX using the username and API key you enter. A connected session, a loaded account list, a selected account, and current market data are separate things to check.
Connect or reconnect
- Confirm TurtleSoupX activation is accepted.
- Open the connection form in the launch flow or Settings > Connection.
- Enter your TopstepX username and API key, then choose Connect Account.
- Wait for the connection and account list to update.
- Confirm the intended account is selected and check System Health.
Use Validate Session to check the current session, or Refresh Status after a temporary status problem. A reconnect is not a position-closing action. Review active exposure before disconnecting.
Select an account
Choose the intended account from the header selector or the account selector in Account Risk. Confirm the displayed account before each order. When changing accounts, review the new account’s risk and current order/position information; selecting an account does not move an existing position to it.
The account list can take time to load. If there is no usable account to select, first confirm the connection and wait for the account catalogue to update.
Mini and Micro
The Mini / Micro preference controls how new orders are sized or resolved for the selected account. It does not change an existing working order or open position. Check the preference before a new order, especially after changing accounts.
Read System Health
Check the rows and their text, rather than relying on colour alone:
- ProjectX/API: connection to the trading service.
- Market Data: whether current market updates are available.
- Licence Server: licence-service state.
- Selected Account: the account currently in scope.
If the backend, API, or feed is offline or stale, pause new actions. Restore the connection, then verify the selected account, current orders, positions, and health before resuming.
Multi-account routing
TurtleSoupX includes multi-account routing options in Settings. Routing can change the target scope for manual and automated actions and may lock ordinary account selection. Use Advanced settings to understand this area before enabling or changing it. If you intend to work with one account, confirm the routing summary says Selected account only.
